Centre Rézodanse – Egypte organises each year a show which involves all the students of the Ecole de Ballet d’Alexandrie. The shows take place at the Great Hall of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and attract a very wide audience, including many schools from Alexandria. In line with its educational mission, Rézodanse works on raising the awareness of pupils of local schools through a comprehensive program of workshops and training sessions directed towards the students of several partner schools prior to attending our show.
Last year, the ‘Larmes du Nil’ show, dealing with the issue of over exploitation of water resources, saw more than 1500 attendees, including pupils from 5 different schools. Rézodanse organised a specific workshop prior to the show with young children from the French school in Alexandria, where participants had the opportunity to discover the soundtrack, the story and the costumes of the show and to practise some of the steps that they would see performed on stage by our dancers.
In 2011, Rézodanse organises the ‘Egyptian Nutcracker’, and with the same idea we put in place a whole set of activities available to some selected schools in order to prepare those children who will attend the show by explaining the story of the Nutcracker, the soundtrack, as well as a general introduction to dance.
