A new hip hop dance show

Between December 2020 and February 2021, Centre Rézodanse Egypte welcomed French Choreographer Christophe Gellon for a four-week artistic residency. Christophe created the dance performance, Uniform, gathering four dancers from Alexandria who had previously participated in Mounirat al Fan 2019 training programme (the initiative of the French Institute in Egypt for young talents) and Silsilah Dance Programme.

Uniform is produced by Centre Rézodanse – Egypte, with the support of the French Institute in Egypt and the Arts Center of the Alexandria Library.

About the choreographer

Christophe Gellon is a French dancer / choreographer based in Lyon. As a dancer, he has been working with Kafïg dance company since 2013, under the artistic supervision of world renowned hip hop choreographer Mourad Merzouki. He would later become Merzouki’s assistant on several projects. He has also founded his own dance company, Voltaïk, in Lyon in 2013. He has been invited to Alexandria in 2019 as an instructor, in the framework of Mounirat al Fan project.

The Premiere of the show was held on Monday 1 March 2021 at the Great Hall of Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
